Wend your way up the valley and surprisingly most of the holes are relativly flat. You do climb but mainly between holes so it is advisable to use a buggy! The architecture is brilliant as well as the views.

The Diego Morito Golf School which has one of the best reputations on the coast.is here and available for those wishing private tution.
Opposite Marbella's Don Carlos Hotel, Santa Maria has 18 holes with a projected 27. The course follows the contours of two valleys rich natural vegetation, streams and there area four lakes forming natural hazards.
The first nine holes are shorter but trickier than the back nine, which have wide fairways. You will find several holes particulary memorable: at the 7th the green is surrounded by bunkers and at the 11th there is a lake and a waterfall by the green.
Santa Maria has a magnificent club house with tennis courts, swimming pool and lawn bowls.
